Learn from marketing professional Kim Smyth Jacob in Vancouver, British Columbia. As principal of Just Cause Marketing, she helped to send 750 Spinoza bears to children who lost a parent in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Kim also drew province-wide media coverage for this initiative, which raised $150,000 through an on-air campaign launched by KBS Radio, a community radio station in eastern BC. The largest contribution, $40,000, came from the employees of Teck-Cominco mine in Trail, BC. Kim worked with the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada which provided administrative and media relations support for the campaign. Read the Press Release (PDF format).
There are great personal and financial rewards that come with this type of position. As a result of her efforts, Kim has become Director of Spinoza for Kids, a province-wide program initially funded by the Vancouver Grizzlies Foundation (now located in Memphis) and now operated by TB Vets Charitable Foundation.
Through corporate sponsorships and community-based partnerships with The Royal Canadian Legion and health care agencies such as Ronald McDonald House, Spinoza for Kids distributes over 700 Spinoza bears each year to children living with a serious illness, disability or trauma. the TB Vets Initiative, Spinoza for Kids. Kim is also developing national partnerships to bring Spinoza to children across Canada.
