Calming/Relaxation

  • Stress can make us crabby, short tempered and mean. Sometimes a minute or two of deep breathing can help center us and give us a new perspective on the situation, day or issue. Calmer generally means less arguments/conflicts and things can get done quicker. Frustration can be very hard for children and they frequently “strike out” either verbally or physically. Also for children who have a low frustration level, Spinoza can be a tool to teach them the techniques they can use anytime to help regain control of themselves. (An important social skill.) This is very important to ADD/ADHD kids, as they have to work harder to develop these skills.
  • It is very difficult for children to “shut down” at bed/nap time. They may have been very active right before and have trouble calming down. After the child is ready to go to bed (brushed their teeth, pj’s, etc.) sit with him/her for awhile, playing Spinoza’s tape Dream On The Water. This will help the child to relax from the tip of their eyelashes to the tip of their toes and will be able to fall asleep.
